During my time at ConWeimar, I had the opportunity to try something I had never done before: VLOG editing. We launched a YouTube channel called Nichtstandard. It would feature BTS, travel VLOGs and any random video idea we came up with. I enjoyed this form of editing, the creative possibilities seemed endless.
The Mallorca travel VLOG was massive. Marco spent a weekend on Mallorca with five of his best friends. However, instead of taking one camera with them, they took 4! So in addition to finding the noteworthy parts of the trip and figuring out a story, there was a lot of file sorting and synchronizing. Editing 15 hours of footage down into a 15 minute VLOG took longer than a week, but it's now one of the most watched videos on the channel.
Nichtstandard at the North Pole was a fun video to make. I didn't face the challenge that I had with the Mallorca video. This time the shots came in structured. There were only two main cameras and I received the files in chronological order, which made reviewing a lot easier. It saved me a lot of time and I could focus more on the edit itself.
